Adventures Through China

Our students gain a broad understanding of China and its magnificent history. Through interesting and dynamic lessons and projects, they learn about different local ethnic groups, food, travel, current affairs, calligraphy, Chinese ink painting, mythology, and other fascinating aspects of Chinese culture. They also focus on specific regions of this fascinating country through multimedia presentations and from seasoned travelers to this vast nation.

Exploring the Middle East

Ever wonder why some Middle-Eastern women wear veils? Do you think Iranians and Arabs speak the same language or have the exact same religion? Given the United States’ current international political climate, it is vital for people to have a basic understanding of the Middle East, its religions and cultures, and how this region of the world impacts us as Americans. This class discusses the political and cultural ties and differences between the Middle East and the West, including the role of gender. We also explore the way the U.S. media portrays Middle Easterners and why

Wonders of Africa

Our instructors hail from many nations and peoples that belong to this complex continent. While the emphasis of the course is on West Africa, students explore various cultures, religions, and geographical regions through the use of exciting projects and activities. Participatory lessons include: daily life, dance, harvesting and farming, and food preparation and cooking.
